Screening: Your Free Nation by Yoyo Jin

Your Free Nation is set in the year 2048, when war has dismantled the foundations ofa once-functioning state. Unable to protect its people, the United Nations commissions a private corporation to launch “Your Free Nation,” a project designed to address a global rise in stateless refugees. The work is interactive, allowing participants to generate and imagine their own nation.

Yoyo Jin explores the relationship between image and peace through AI, illustration, performance, and participatory storytelling. Her work uses humor and audience engagement to examine identity and social issues

Workshop: EAST2046 x Sanmingzhi Soft Futures Writing Day

ESEA Community Centre (London, UK), 27th July

This workshop explores the challenges bilingual writers face, from navigating the expressive limits of each language to finding an authentic voice in English. It also considers how AI reshapes writing and what revisiting works like Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein can reveal about authorship in a technological age. Participants will take part in guided writing exercises and discussion.

Zixin Li is a bilingual nonfiction writer and founder of Sanmingzhi and the English literary magazine Bluebell. She writes on global diasporic literature and is currently completing a nonfiction book on Chaoshan culture.

Georgia Aitkenhead studied English Literature at Oxford and Cambridge and later conducted research on neurodiversity and sensory perception at the Alan Turing Institute. She brings a background in teaching, storytelling, and community engagement
